Hmm well I just finished my exams, and I have 3 weeks break. Yeehah, and that means sortof a lot to me.

I had to cut my “Afro”,cos it was too troublesome and well it was a skin cut, so I had to stick to the face cap, you know ;). I am sorta a shy person.

Well besides that, today we went shopping. Bought some stuff, eat the regulars, as in Nandos, and umm currently back home watching the Dvds we bought. Serenity, The phatom of the Opera and Narc.

Off to watch the movies. And hey thats me, the fist time appearing in my blog? huhuhuhu. Well yeah I just felt like it today ;).

Ten Reasons Why You Should Date a Geek

Filed under: humour — kayode muyibi @ 1:40 am

According to a post on Roberst Scoble (employee of Microsoft) his wife her blog and other related articles I made a list of Ten Reasons Why Girls Should Date a Geek.

1. Geeks are useful, they can fix your desktop, laptop, … Those skills are very useful and can make your life run smooth. 2. They are romantic than they’re given credit for. Their idea of romance might be making up a web-page abut about you. But hey it lasts longer than flowers and you can show your friends. 3. They’ve got brains and they’re usually very well educated. 4. They’re relatively low-maintenance. So there will be no complicated dinners needed. And if you’re not the best cook, you can order a pizza. 5. You won’t have to worry about what he’s doing. You’ll probably find him at his computer. 6. They trust you, so you can be yourself around them. You like to walk around the house in a ratty t-shirt for comfort? He won’t care. They won’t get pissy if you don’t wear make-up or don’t want to bother primping your hair. 7. He will make you shine everywhere you go. No matter how clumsy you sense of style, no matter how awkward your social skills, you’ll be a fashion star and a classy diplomat next to your geek. He’ll make you look so good; you’ll fall in love with yourself. 8. If you are not into computers, TVs and DVD and you don’t care about being popular and fashionable. What about the newest techie gadgets? You are going to be a proud owner of the latest gadgets if you ever decide to date a geek. 9. He won’t cheat on you either. Place the sexiest woman on earth in a room with a geek, say Angelina Jolie. At the other corner of the room, place the latest model of some computer or other. I am willing to bet that your geek would want to play with that computer much more than getting to know Angelina Jolie. In fact, he might not even see her if the computer is on and connected to the Internet. C’mmon he has to check his email, surf the web and blog about the fact that he is in a room with Angelina Jolie. 10.The final reason is: They actually give a damn about you. Not how you look (though that’s a plus), not how skinny you are, not how much make-up you primp yourself up with, but they like you for you.

Regarding adsense on nigerian bloggers.

Filed under: General Stuffs — kayode muyibi @ 8:20 am

Someone did ask me regarding why I had adsense on Nigerianbloggers since it was not for profit.

Well yes it still remains non profitable, but the bandwidth and space it takes is not free from Nairahost. Nairahost is a company which keeps records of its bandwidth and space, besides the per dollar value of it, and therefore, I have to pay back in one way or the other. So Adsense came to the rescue, afterall its not that hard to earn the cost overhead in one year.

But if there is an excessive income from it, I would divert it for the said Nigerian bloggers award of the week program. So be rest assured is still remains , what I said it is.

An Indian’s Discovery

Filed under: wise blabberings — kayode muyibi @ 2:53 pm

An Indian discovered that nobody can create a folder anywhere named as “con” . Not only “con” but you can not create folder named as “aux” and “nul”. This is something pretty cool…and unbelievable… At Microsoft the whole Team, including Bill Gates, couldn’t answer why this happened! Try it out yourself…

Filed under: security, General Stuffs — kayode muyibi @ 1:36 am

well I was chatting with my partner and all of a sudden a message came which didnt look like it came from him.

(MASS) Checkout this site injoy http://www.geocities.com/tracity/?200529?20057

Stupidly, out of a rush, because the person happens to be my partner, I clicked on the link, and well it brought about a yahoo login screen, well I did think it was a yahoo member site, you know the group sorta thingy that requires you to enter your username and password before you login. well so it is, I entered my username and password, I fell for it. But something caught my attention, the page wasnt in english, besides a geocities site which it was, it looks a bit wierd. I knew something was wrong. Wooohoo, password stolen.

Well so i had to rush back to yahoo, change my yahoo password immediately. And here I am happily blogging, almost a victim of password theft. Well how can I be sooo stupid ???

Dont enter your password if you decide to check the link out. Dont say I didnt warn you

Happy Independence day Nigeria.

Filed under: General Stuffs — kayode muyibi @ 12:00 pm

Happy Independence day Nigeria. Nigeria is 45 by the way. :)

A flavour was added to my day on the independence day, I could listen to EKO FM . I was so excited with the clear live streaming from the radio, and luckily i could meet the programme which was titled “IF You Were to wish Nigeria anything, what would it be?“, there was a call in by various people for the independence day . Thanks to KB and Friends for blogging about it. I am really excited, Nigerian voices and accent. Woooh Cant believe my ears. You need to check it out Nigerians in Diaspora.

Honestly I was dissapointed with the guys that called in. All they were talking about was the problems going on, more of complaining rather than talking about the good things etc. Some even went on saying they dont think anything good will happen to Nigeria and they think the solution is war.Where is the integrity? The yoruba people say “Eni to ba manu ro, yo mo okpe da” literally means he who can think over something properly would be very greatful with what he has.

I would wish Nigeria, to be a better place to live in peace and harmony. Anyhow we are the happiest people on earth.

This was KB and FRIENDS POST….....

EKO FM LAUNCHES ITS WEBSITE TODAY…

YOU CAN NOW ENJOY LIVE BROADCAST FROM THIS STATION VIA ITS WEBSITE.

This is another breakthrough from Nigerian Infotech industry.. more greese to you elbows.. tiwan tiwan!

The haze in certain parts of the peninsula was at its worst yesterday. And the bad news is that the situation will not improve in the coming days.

According to the Meteorological Department, the dry weather will continue until October.

Current wind directions are not expected to change until the inter-monsoon season in two months’ time.

The only hope of seeing some haze-free days will be when the fires in Sumatra are put out, according to the department’s deputy director-general (forecast) Dr Yap Kok Seng.

He said some rain could be expected towards the end of this week although the next few days would be dry.

Visibility in most parts of the Klang Valley dipped to as low as one kilometre.

Business Planning for College Students and First-Time Entrepreneurs

Filed under: General Stuffs — kayode muyibi @ 5:02 am

More and more students, both in undergraduate and graduate institutions, are deciding to launch their own ventures upon graduation rather than taking the traditional route of working for another firm. Likewise, more and more individuals are leaving their jobs to fulfill their entrepreneurial dreams.

While these ventures may ultimately be very successful (e.g., Google and Microsoft were both launched by students), they face certain challenges in their business plans and capital raising processes. The foremost challenge is overcoming the lack of experience of the management team. A classis chicken-and-egg problem presents itself – the management team has no past company successes to point to, and can’t prove itself unless given the opportunity to launch the business. While this problem is nearly always the case for graduating students, it also presents itself to many entrepreneurs, particularly those who are launching their first ventures.

To overcome this challenge, these ventures must represent themselves as having a great team by attracting a stellar management team and/or advisors. By attracting a quality management team, even if the team will not start until after financing, it gives investors that confidence that the plan will be properly executed. It also proves that the entrepreneurs have the ability to “sell” others on their vision. The management team need not be complete before seeking capital, since additional members will most likely be added after capital is raised. For instance, shortly after Google raised capital from Sequoia Capital and Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, Omid Kordestani left Netscape to accept a position as vice president of business development and sales, and Urs Hölzle was hired away from UC Santa Barbara as vice president of engineering.

Attracting high-quality advisors builds great credibility since if respected individuals are willing to risk their reputations by taking an advisory position, the venture must have some merit. Advisors can also help with the execution of the business and sometimes will also provide the needed capital. In Google’s case, when no major portal was interested in partnering with or funding the company, Larry Page and Sergey Brin were able to convince Andy Bechtolsheim, one of the founders of Sun Microsystems, to become an advisor and investor. Bechtolsheim contributed the initial $100,000 to the company.

Even if the venture is able to attract quality management teams and advisors, it will always be at a disadvantage versus other ventures headed by entrepreneurs who have “been there, done that” successfully in the past. To compensate for this, these ventures must really know their customers, know their market and know their competition. By possessing an in depth knowledge of the external factors that will effect the company’s success, the entrepreneurs can both create a solid business strategy and convince investors that an opportunity really exists. If the opportunity truly exists, then investors know that even if the venture is initially mismanaged, then they can hire additional managers later to put it back on course.

In summary, when students or first time entrepreneurs, begin developing their business strategies and plans, they must compensate for the management deficiencies they possess versus established entrepreneurs. By doing this and showing a comprehensive knowledge of their market, these ventures can level the capital raising playing field. Fortunately, these ventures can point to a long list of other successful companies which were launched by students and/or first time entrepreneurs, most notably Google and Microsoft.
