Vanity intoxication

I am still yet to come into understanding on why other people’s wealth excite some people. This entry was triggered by some post I came across on the net. The part that actually amazed me, is the provocative response to that particular post. They were actually arguing on who is richer and getting all stuck up with the vanity that enshrouds it. I really don’t get it, perhaps someone out there does? I would call it Vanity intoxication.

fifa2006Brazil won the world cup in 1994. Before that they won it in 1970. Add 1970 and 1994, it equals 3964. Argentina last won the world cup in 1986. Before that they won it in 1978. Add 1978 and 1986, it equals 3964.

Germany last won in 1990. Before that they won in 1974. Add 1990 and 1974, it equals 3964. So going by this logic, the winner of the 2002 world cup was 3964 – 2002 =1962 world cup winner.

The 1962 world cup was won by Brazil, considering that the winner of 2002 was Brazil, and also 2002+1962= 3964 yet again, So using that logical formula, The winner of the 2006 world cup will be 3964 – 2006 = 1958. And the winner of 1958 was?

Do the maths :)

So I guess we can deduce the winner of the 2006 worldcup.

Most of us have done it in one way or another. Let our emotions get better of us in our e-mail. Perhaps emails should come with a disclaimer at the bottom? Caution: “May Inflict Injury or even “Sender might be loaded”. That’s because, even after years in which e-mail has been a common communications medium, many people still don’t seem to know how to use it.

Imagine getting an email of one page length from a customer in capitals? Or even the curt, insensitive and often downright rude e-mail messages that pop into my mailbox often regularly. I am far from being the sensitive type, but then again, the rate at which the emails come in, regularly, calls for questioning.

Well here are some suggestions on how to keep it less annoying.

An Indian’s Discovery

An Indian discovered that nobody can create a folder anywhere named as “con” . Not only “con” but you can not create folder named as “aux” and “nul”. This is something pretty cool…and unbelievable… At Microsoft the whole Team, including Bill Gates, couldn’t answer why this happened! Try it out yourself…

Job Opportunities. Bloggers Need Not Apply.

Discrimination. Oh yes, thats what i would call it. But there must be a reason for that. I mean bloggers in general have mutated to become worse than even journalist. So, what is it with job seekers who also write blogs?

In a recent visit to chronicle careers, i came across this topic Bloggers Need Not Apply By IVAN TRIBBLE and i couldnt help but read through a very long article that went on to give examples of such instances whereby the employers actually went to Google to investigate the online activities of their applicants by tying the applicants name as the query. They employers actually use the content, to evaluate the job seeker, and that is really shocking.

I really do understand the stance of this employers, especially for the fact, that bloggers talk to much about themselves and their life on their blogs. We would discover that a lot of bloggers, just get the whole idea of freedom of expressing oneself wrong. Its the International network, for goodness sake. And anybody, infact everybody can read your stuff, whether protected or not, and things that are private should be private. And they should totally stay offline.

My advice to all bloggers out there,is if you know that you are going to be a “job seeker” in the future, avoid blogging on too personal stuff, especially things that are just meant to be private.

And here is a little excerpt from Chronicles to give you an idea of the degree of the situation here.


We’ve seen the hapless job seekers who destroy the good thing they’ve got going on paper by being so irritating in person that we can’t wait to put them back on a plane. Our blogger applicants came off reasonably well at the initial interview, but once we hung up the phone and called up their blogs, we got to know “the real them”—better than we wanted, enough to conclude we didn’t want to know more.

Accepting Critism.

One problem thats is common amongst young entreprenures like me is they cannot accept simple critism. the problem mainly is caused by factors such as personal esteem, ego, and also the ideology that they know it all.

Persoanally, not to brag, i am a person who is really willing to accept any form of critisism whatsoever. i also even love to listen to peoples ideas, plans and even opinions. what i acctually despise is someone thinking i am a very arrogant person and thus when i talk about issues pertaining to what i am doing, what i plan to do, and why i am doing it, people think i am bragging or showing off. the thing about me is i love to share ideas, i want to be a role model, i want to encourage people through my little work, so that they know whether they are lagging behind or even far above. its just my own way of giving out the little i think i can now.

Now back to the problem with people who do not accept critisism, when i tell a friend “hello, your approach is wrong, i doubt progress through such approach”, the first thing the person thinks is oh “this guy is jelous of me, or this guy does not like me making it big”. but lets put it this way, i am an enemy of your success and also i happen to love to advise you on how to do this or how to do that, and also a way to try this and to try that? does that really make sense? i still dont get it. i mean if i say you are doing this wrongly, its for you to change, for you to see my angle of vision, and for you to take it or leave it. but you dont even give me that benefit of understanding because of your myopia angle of looking at things, that anything not comforming to your line of thinking is an enemy or a threat to your progress?

why not just do it in a way more smarter and rewarding. try it out or leave it. i mean if it does not cost you anything try it out. if it does leave it or try to understand the person more and the reason for which that person is trying to enlighten you on things pertaining to the issue in question. you might wonder why i am saying this and why i am saying that. the problem is that many of my so called ex friends, just had this attitude of not accepting critisism that stills bothers me a lot. Progress is life is never achieved through this way of closing the mind and seeing what you only want to see, from what i have experienced from my exposure in life. i only have one thing to say to all those out there who do not accept critisism in one way or the other, open up, see the beauty of critisism, and you would be glad you did.
