E-commerce key player’s in Nigeria.
Nigeria is a third world country and surprisingly e-commerce is emerging at a very astonishing rate. The main key players in Nigeria are quiet innovative and patient. Although there are quite a lot of already abandon web projects along the years. Nevertheless we shouldnt forget that it is like that everywhere.
The Nigerian web market is very promising although it has not been infected with the normal “leap-frogging” factor which is a very common fate with technologies in her market. The key players in the Nigerian web market are:-
Store Department
SHOPFORLESS
http://www.shopforless.com
I would rate shopforless as the best innovative living Nigerian Commercial portal of today. It is impressively packed with a huge amount of products and it has its own catalogue which can be obtained for free.
Auction Department
WHOGOBUY

http://www.whogobuy.com
It is quiet new into the Nigerian market, and has an impressive patronage from one merchant selling the entire goods listed. The name “whogobuy” is in pidgin English and literally means “Who is going buy? Or who would buy?” It is quite a promising portal.
Prepaid Department
Recharge Nigeria
http://www.rechargenigeria.com
Photo Department
fotoNigeria
http:// www.fotonigeria.com
This is an impressive online photoshop where you can get your pictures printed, enhanced, and edited online. Their pricing is quite reasonable.
Ticket Booking.
EASAirlines
http://www.eastickets.com/
This is the only airline in Nigeria that I know of, that allows you to book, confirm and buy tickets online. Quite impressive and good initiative.
CAR SALES
1000carsales
http://www.1000carsales.com/
I dont know how they do it but they do it well. 1000carsales.com is an online classified listing for cars, where anyone wishing to sell a car can put it up for sale on this site by themselves. Registration is free but you need to pay to list your car.
Payment Gateway Department.
Interswitch
http://www.interswitchng.com
Interswitch is a very promising internet payment gateway which allows Nigerians to be able to shop with their ATM card. Interswitch has not really played any major role in the Nigerian web market, considering the fact that, it has a low web-merchant patronage. Nevertheless Interswitch’s technology is quiet impressively packed with features. Their merchant enrollment fee is quiet high and I guess that’s the main reason why very few merchants patronize them.
I could also say that E-commerce has not really come to age in Nigeria.
Web Hosting Department.
This is one market, that is flooded with a lot of providers. The main key reliable players that have been in the market for more than 1 year considering the fact that the market is quiet new in Nigeria are:-
1 MCREAL.NET
2 SEEMESUCCEED.COM
3 WEBLAGOS.COM
4 NAIRAHOST.COM
5 DOMAINSTANDARD.NET
6 ENWHY.COM
Nigerian e-commerce market is very promising, and I forsee phenomenal returns and patronage only for those who are patient enough. Patience is a rewarding virtue, they say.
Wow, I can’t believe how many of these companies I didn’t know anything about. Thanks for sharing. This is a list that one should definitely bookmark!

Kazey, the domainStandard .net link under webhosts points to www.domainstandard.com. The correct URL is www.domainstandard.NET.
You could also add the following to the list:
1. etranzact.net – Payment Gateway Department
2. Computerport.biz – Store Department
Cheers.
